history:

His mother (Mirra) died when his younger brother (Mirlok) was born when Ritter was 3 ½ years.

Ritter inherited his mother's eyes and the power of his father. the younger Ritter was a veteran of the waterbend, his father (Noatak or Amon) trained him every day.

Noatak taught Ritter to bloodbend, without a full moon, Ritter learned it immediately and his father proud of his oldest son, show him how to take the bending away to others, and did so with his younger brother who was a firebender.
